So, I find it fitting that my first post is on the first day of the new year : )
I’ve been interested in starting an account on this site (I’m previously a blogger and xanga user) and I finally decided to start one up.
I suppose I should start off first with an introduction. I’ll do my best to keep it short.
My name is Morgan, and I live in Florida, in a small suburban town conveniently located close enough to St.Petersburg, Clearwater, Tampa, and Orlando (well, Orlando is a bit of a drive, about ninety minutes, but still close enough.) I love this area, Ybor and Downtown St.Pete or gorgeous, and I do love the business district. But, alas, I’m still a high school student. I will get my license this summer, and once that happens, I will be everywhere. For now, I don’t mind adventuring around my town, it’s actually quite a bit of fun. I have good friends, and we all love making good memories of our (sometimes a bit crazy) outings. I play cello, and I have for longer than I can remember. I love it. Music is my passion, and I’m glad. My ultimate goal is to go to NYU for music and writing, and then DJ in the city and arrange music for film and television for the rest of my life. New York will always home my heart, It was where I was born and raised, practically. I lived there for twelve out of my fifteen years, and I loved every minute. I fit in better up there. In my town, I stick out like a sore thumb at times. But, I find it exciting. Anyway. I think I’ll leave it at that for now.
Surprisingly, my new year’s celebration was quite small this year. I held an intimate gathering for just my closest friends. Zowie, Julia, Evan, Christian and I ordered in Chinese and had a magnificent feast of veggie lo mein and egg drop soup. We made killer margaritas, and then roamed over to our second home, the local Starbucks. We had to bring some Coke and Vodka though, because no New Years celebration can go with out some recklessness. Afterwards, we went to this amazing little park on the way home. I kid you not, this playground could be torn right out of the imagination of Dr. Suess. There are spiral, spinning stripper poles everywhere, pods in which you turn so fast you feel as though you’ll never stop, and this incredible disk structure that, when weight is distributed the right way, rotates and a speed that just keeps you on your toes. We stayed there for a bit, just playing around, playing childish games of truth or dare, which later just turned into a truth circle. Afterwards, we continued home and lit sparklers, continuing our game. Six packs of sparklers for under three dollars! We just couldn’t resist. And, after all, sparklers are a New Year’s tradition. Christian left us then, he had a family celebration that it was required for him to attend. So, we went inside, put on a playlist I had put together earlier on (Full of Le Tigre, LCD Soundsystem, Ghostland Observatory and Young Love. It was perfect for what we needed.) And just talked. Evan and Julia bonded a bit, it was cute. Time flew, and it was 2oo9 ! We watched the countdown, and of course celebrated with some really cheap, yet surprising good, champagne. We paraded with pots and pans, shouting in the glorious arrival of a fresh start. After the excitement calmed down, we just relaxed, really. We drank merrily, and though I smoked a few too many Camels, I disregarded any guilt, for the joy of a new year washed it all away. I played a few songs for them. The first three Bach suites, which, surprisingly, I didn’t do to poorly, considering my state of sobriety (or lack thereof). And really, we just conversed about our expectations for the New Year. It was nice. Evan crashed on my couch, and Zowie and Julia slept cozily on my spare bed in my room. We woke up earlier than I had expected, and had a lazy morning. It was superb. We walked to Starbucks, got fully caffeinated, and meandered over to the bookstore. Sadly, they did not have the book I’ve been looking for. It’s called Last Night’s Party, a magnificent collection of party pictures. And Then, Denise came and took Evan, Julia, Zowie and me all to our own places of residence. And, that’s how I ended up writing this. Currently, I’m finishing up some thank you’s from the holidays and uploading photographs from last night. I always take too many photo’s, but I love having a record of all my adventures.
I hope all of you had a fantastic New Year. Have any interesting stories to share ? I’d love to hear them.
The adventure continued this morning.
Then, we left.
And, now, I’m home.
Going to Vinny’s tonight, possibly, to look for Loh. : /
Hope everyone had a great start to the New Year !
